Frigid-cold-fun has set in and along with some snow we are open once again for snowshoeing. The first tours in 3 seasons! We almost forgot how beautiful the forest blanketed in snow is and we were overjoyed to have a nice white Christmas and suitable snow to make snowshoeing practical over the New Year. We are taking reservations for January and February and we are expecting good conditions! Accuweather Long Term as of 1/1/18
I want to be able to provide for my family by really understanding the WordPress platform. An improved working knowledge will not only help me customize and administer my WordPress business websites with skill and proficiency but also allow me to offer the WordPress platform to some of my web site and photography clients. My 16 year old daughter is very stressed about our ability to help her with college tuition. If I could become a WordPress Pro, it would help me gain and impress new clients and offer a less stressful educational future for my daughter. I am an award winning photographer so I have the skill set to really create stunning web sites. I just need to gain a firmer handle on all the great features and design potential the Word Press platform makes possible.
With some great groups and families this fall and some great weather too we have been having some great late season kayaking!
Weather is cooling off but the water is still fairly warm. Folks that are hardy and have the right attitude can still book a tour ANYTIME if the weather is reasonable. Our guides are outdoorspeople so the weather for us is not really an issue. Call us for info and availability.
In most cases temperatures need to be in the 60’s or above and hopefully sunny. Here are some pics from a few trips this fall.
This fall the reservoir has been especially quiet. Just a few fisherman in their small electric boats are encountered at this time of year. The adult eagles are still being spotted and one was seen perching quite close to the shore on our October 17th tour. There are even reports of juvenile eagle still hanging around and one person we ran into says she saw a golden eagle. Black bears have been sighted this year more than any year in the past. The bears are quite peaceful going about their business and we have had a few chances at observing them foraging under tree stumps and big rocks.
On October 17th we ran a nice private tour for Andy and Linda from Towson and they had a great time. It was their first kayaking trip and they were quite happy that it went so well and the kayaking was easy for them. We got a great look at the male bald eagle, a few hawks and a flock of common mergansers.
This weekend marks the start of our Fall Photography Workshops. This Sunday we will be traveling to the Lost Lands area for some image making. The Lost Lands is one of Garrett County’s hidden natural gems. It is a designated Wild Lands and features beautiful forests, waterfalls, river and stream features. We will be traveling down into the Potomac River drainage as well as exploring the Lost Lands Trail and Bridal Veil Falls.
Workshop is from 9-Noon. Call 301-746-4083 for reservations.
Don’t be shy about your skill level. We can work on whatever you have questions about and part of the fun is just going to gorgeous areas accompanied by a guide and accomplished photographer.
Getting excited about the fall photography workshops coming up. These are always fun trips for me and the participants. The causal learning that takes place and the interaction between photographers is always a fun learning adventure.
This year we are exploring two great areas. The Lost Lands and The Yough Wild and Scenic River. Call for inofrmation and check out the photo workshop page.
